President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has expressed serious concern about the recent intrusion of a Russian submarine into the West Philippine Sea (WPS). He described the incident as "very worrisome" and emphasized that any unauthorized entry into the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) raises significant security issues. The Philippine Navy identified the vessel as the Ufa, a Russian attack submarine, which was tracked near Occidental Mindoro. The submarine reportedly claimed to be waiting for improved weather conditions before continuing its journey to Vladivostok, Russia. Philippine forces monitored the situation closely to ensure compliance with international maritime laws and safeguard national sovereignty.
